If you opt for your dog to stay with us while you are out of town, he will have plenty of company when he comes for the "Dogie Sleep Over" because we have four "pet children" (2 Dachshunds & 2 Bagle Hounds), who love to meet and play with new pet friends!
We have a fenced backyard and the dogs have access to the yard though a doggie door which allows them to go in and out as often as they like. If your dog does not use a doggie door, not to worry, this is not a problem since someone is home to let your dog out when he/she needs to go. While staying with us, your pet will receive individualized personal attention.
Meet Our Pet Children . . .
Desiree 6 yrs old
Desiree was a Father's Day gift six years ago from our son. We thought she was a Basset Hound, but as it turned out she is a Bagle Hound Hybrid, which is a cross between the Basset Hound and the Beagle. Desiree is epileptic and has had many Gran Mal seizures since she was four months old. She occasionally has break-through seizures, but her meds have been doing a good job keeping her seizures in check. We have been told not to expect her to live to an old age, but we think she will be with us for a long time to come since she is responding positively to the change in her meds (she takes Phenobarbital and Potassium Bromide twice daily). She doesn't know she's sick and is the most mischievous of our dogs! For example, she has learned how to climb the kitchen drawers in order to get up on our counters!
Sadie ? yrs old & our pound rescue
Sweet Sadie is terrified of thunder and ran away during an extremely bad thunder storm several years ago. Five months later, my husband received a call from a vet who said he had Sadie and we could come pick her up! Sadie and our other dogs are micro chipped and that's how the vet was able to find us.
Sadie's story is an excellent example of why
all pets should be micro chipped!
Mr Bean 5 yrs old
Mr Bean is our miniature Dachshund who was given to us by a breeder who knew Sadie had run off and we needed a companion for Desiree. For such a little fella, he sure is bossy! As a puppy, and to this day, he takes Desiree's toys away from her.
<----- This picture is Mr Bean as a puppy. The toy he has in his mouth is one he had just taken away from Desiree and it weighed as much as he did! He will chew up and eat anything he can get his mouth around. Including furniture, flooring, bookcases, shoes, socks, pet beds and anything we might leave within his reach!
Jolie 4 yrs old
Jolie, our sweet baby girl & our "friendly jumping lap dog"! She's a long haired miniature Dachshund and was a Christmas gift for my supervisor's children a few years ago. They were having trouble house training her, so I volunteered to take her home with me and house train her for them. I gave her back after about a month, but within two weeks my supervisor called and said she just couldn't handle two small children and a puppy, and wanted to know if I wanted her. Jolie became a permanent member of our family within the next few days!
